Temple Judea Mizpah has a long standing reputation as a synagogue that is exceptionally dedicated to mitzvah, tzedakah, and tikkun olam. Common themes of social justice and action wind their way through all components of the congregation – worship, education, and even social events.
Each month, a group of TJM volunteers provide and serve a full dinner – including bouquets of flowers – at A Just Harvest (formerly the Good News Community Kitchen) in the near north community. A special High Holiday Food Drive supplies much needed non-perishable items to The Ark, The Niles Township Food Pantry, and A Just Harvest; contributions specifically in support of the Soup Kitchen’s TJM dinners continue throughout the year. In the winter, collections expand to include warm gloves, mittens, scarves and hats.
The TJM Monthly Tzedakah Fund gives congregants the opportunity to open their hearts to a variety of important causes and fulfill the mitzvah of righteous giving.
